Farm Myths Busted ...No, Alpacas Don’t Spit at Everyone

Let’s set the record straight, shall we?

Here at Little Village Farm, we hear a lot of interesting questions; from “Do alpacas really spit at everyone?” to “Wait… do chickens have personalities?” And hey, we get it. Farm life is full of surprises! But today, we’re clearing up some of the biggest myths once and for all.

It’s time for: FARM MYTHS BUSTED! 🧑‍🌾🦙🐔

🚫 MYTH 1: Alpacas Spit at Everyone

BUSTED!

We promise, our alpacas aren’t going around launching spit attacks on innocent bystanders. Spitting is usually reserved for alpaca-on-alpaca drama (like food fights or herd squabbles). They can spit at humans, but only if seriously annoyed (usually involving food-stealing or surprise vet visits). Most of the time, they’re gentle, curious, and a little sassy; but in a “pose for the camera” kind of way, not a “spit in your face” kind of way.

Lillee says: “I don’t spit, darling. I simply give the look.”

🐓 MYTH 2: Chickens Are Dumb

SO BUSTED.

Our chickens are tiny feathered masterminds. They know routines, pecking order politics, and exactly where to sneak extra snacks. Some even come when called ... but only if they're in the mood. Don’t let the clucks fool you; they’re smart little hustlers.

🐴 MYTH 3: Donkeys Are Stubborn

PARTLY TRUE... but there’s more to the story.

Pickles, our resident donkey diva, says she’s not stubborn ... she’s strategic. Donkeys are thinkers. They won’t rush into something unless they’ve assessed it thoroughly. It's not about being difficult; it’s about being deliberate. (And maybe enjoying a good dramatic pause before doing what we asked.)

🌾 MYTH 4: Farm Animals Don’t Have Personalities

ABSOLUTELY BUSTED.

Spend one day on the farm and you’ll see: our animals have big, bold, hilarious personalities. Phoenix is calm and mysterious. Lillee is a sassy supermodel. Pickles is pure chaos in a floofy package. We’re not just a farm ... we’re a soap opera with hooves and fluff.

🧺 BONUS MYTH: Dryer Sheets Are the Best Way to Soften Laundry

NOPE. Our alpacas strongly disagree.

Dryer sheets are single-use, full of chemicals, and no match for our handmade, all-natural alpaca dryer balls. They reduce static, dry clothes faster, and last for thousands of loads. Plus, they’re made from fleece from the very animals you’ve just read about.
